Welcome! I'm Kayla and I look forward to meeting you. Life can often be hard and uncertain and it's okay to ask for help, in fact, I encourage it! While pain is not executed in isolation, neither is healing. I believe how we experience this life depends on our sense of belonging, made up of our connections, and especially our connection to our self. I want you to experience belonging right where you are at- in your body, mind, family and community. Through therapy, I will walk beside you to process the difficult things you have been through and build your connections to both yourself and supports. I'd be honored to join your community.
I have my Masters in Counseling from Northern Arizona University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My background experience is working with diverse populations including adolescents 11+, teens, families, and adults. I also have experience in group work. Specializing in treating relational traumas, complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ issues, grief and loss, life transitions, school issues, general stressors and women’s issues, I use a trauma informed approach in all that I do. I believe you are the expert of your experience and will use my knowledge and skills to support your desires and decisions. Because of this, I am eclectic and tailor treatment directly to your needs.
I am trained in EMDR, Trauma Informed Healing for LGBTQIA+ Communities, 30-Hour Crisis Counselor Certification, and Red Cross Psychological First Aid. I utilize the following approaches to assist clients in meeting their goals: Mindfulness Based Counseling (MBCT), Person-Centered, Strengths Based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Psychoanalytic Therapy.
If you want to feel like you belong, if you want to heal, if you want to know yourself more deeply, if you want to feel like this life is a little less hard and a little less uncertain, I would love to talk to you.

Jennifers passion for helping others and understanding human behavior led her to pursue a career in social work. She completed her undergraduate degree in Social Work at Ohio State University, where she built a strong foundation in the principles of social welfare and support for diverse populations. Continuing her education, she earned her master’s in social work from Capella University, refining her skills and gaining advanced knowledge in therapeutic practices.
After completing her education, Jennifer began her career in various roles that allowed her to work directly with individuals in need. She started in senior living facilities, where she gained hands-on experience supporting older adults and addressing the unique challenges they face. Jennifer also worked as a teacher’s aide and substitute teacher, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with children who have developmental disabilities and severe behavioral challenges. Her work with these children deepened her understanding of behavioral interventions and the power of tailored support in fostering growth. Jennifer’s professional journey also led her to a group therapy practice where she interned, focusing on grief counseling. This experience helped her explore the emotional complexities of loss, providing clients with the tools to navigate their grief in a supportive environment. She further expanded her expertise by working in an SMI (Severe Mental Illness) clinic, where she served as a case worker and counselor, providing critical services to individuals facing serious mental health challenges.
Currently, Jennifer serves as a counselor at Innerlight Counseling, where she specializes in EMDR trauma therapy, dissociation, attachment, and grief. As a holistic, solution-focused therapist, Jennifer emphasizes a client-centered, integrative approach to healing. She draws from various therapeutic modalities, tailoring each session to meet the individual needs of her clients. Through her work, she helps individuals address the root causes of negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, process painful emotions, and develop strategies for lasting change. Her compassionate approach empowers clients to cultivate resilience, heal from past wounds, and build healthier emotional connections.
